First Valentine

This one was from Auntie Mary Jane and Uncle Michael. Harvey is on his way to becoming a heartbreaker! Posted by Picasa

Pretty in Pink

18 inches hit our neighborhood this weekend. Here's to our little snow angel. It looks like we are confused parents; dressing our boy in a pink snowsuit, but it was a hand-me-down and as you can see from the photo, Harvey doesn't seem to mind at all! He's too busy working on his crawl technique; he's even gotten on all fours in the last few days. We're placing bets... Posted by Picasa

When a Bell Rings, An Angel Grows Wings

Grandpa Harvey Kerr used these Swiss Melodee Bells. They are a tradition in schools around the world. The bells are scientifically tuned from F to F and the metal inner bell has true pitch! These were a special gift from Auntie Sara who heard our plea for musically correct experiences for little Harvey. Aside from enjoying the bright colors and musical sounds, Harvey also likes to eat the bells! Posted by Picasa

Playtime for Harvey

Harvey's music lessons are going quite well. Notice that his fingers are so fast that they are a blur. Meanwhile, back in the pack-n-play, he's really rolling along! Today he rolled from stomach to back four different times. Keep it up little fella. You will surely give those folks down in Texas a "roll" for their money. Posted by Picasa

Baby Comedy Awards

There ought to be a comedy competition to see who can make babies laugh. I think Uncle Peter would win hands down! Posted by Picasa

12 pounds 12 ounces, 25 2/3 inches

Today the Pediatrician gave us our lesson in sleep and food scheduling for our 4 1/2 month old baby. Up until now the protocol has been feed-on-demand (basically every 3 hours). But today we were given the green light to introduce solid foods into Harvey's diet via spoonfeeding. I felt a little threatened by the mention of rice cereal: "Isn't my milk good enough? I was hoping to breastfeed Harvey until the end of the first year." Dr. King reassured me that Harvey wouldn't give up on mother's milk; that the 3 times a day regimen of cereal, fruits and veggies would be in alternation with breastfeeding. Joe's question raised a different concern: "Will the diapers start to smell?" (For those who are curious, the answer was, "No.") Posted by Picasa

Creepy Crawly

Our days of a non childproofed household are numbered. Harvey has been putting a lot of R&D (Research and Development) into moving. And speaking of moving… Last night was his first night in his own room. Lights were out by 10:30 PM, feedings at 1:30 and 4:30 (yawn), and he was up and ready to go at 7:30. He took a nap at 9:30 AM and right now he is in the middle of his afternoon siesta. I think we are actually on the verge of a schedule, HOORAY! The number of awake hours have increased quite a bit and he is developing a new skill – self-amusement. Meanwhile our new digs allow us to keep the computers, wires and important paperwork in the “Study”, away from the soon-to-be-mobile-puts-everything-in-his-mouth baby. Also, we have stored all of the baby gear in the BABY ROOM instead of under the piano. Harvey even has his own closet, which, by the way, is already filled with all of the gorgeous clothing that people have given him. Thanks, Debra, for the fancy padded blue baby hangers to showcase his Hollywood Wardrobe. Did I mention that Harvey’s stuff also monopolizes half of our chest of drawers (we have to go buy him his own bureau). They warned us. Really, they did! Posted by Picasa

Fortunate Baby

We took Harvey out for Chinese to celebrate the New Year on the Upper East Side. It was his first dinner out in NYC. He was a big hit with the waiter who brought HS his first fortune cookie. "You will get what you desire with your charm and personality" Unfortunately, it didn't stop us from getting slapped with a $115 parking ticket. I wonder if we send Harvey's picture in, they'll give us a reduction on the fine. (Keep dreaming, maman!) Last night I celebrated another first. Harvey slept 8 hours straight in the crib. This is a big achievement - and he had no help from a binky OR the swing. Wonders never cease. Posted by Picasa
