Big Boy Bed

It took 2 hours tonight. Harvey crawled under the covers excitedly as I kissed him goodnite. He could hardly contain his squeals. It was 9:00 and I was trying not to rush out of the room too quickly as I was anxious to see tonights episode of Desperate Housewives.
9:25 "Thump". I peek carefully so as not to disturb the sleeping baby. HA! No sleep here. About 10 toys are lined up on the bed and I smell a poopy diaper. I tell him that he has to try his very best to sleep in the big boy bed or he will have to go back to the "baby crib". He quickly nestles himself back under the covers and says "covers!"
10:00 "Thump". No peeking this time. I open the door and discover a truck and 15 board books strewn on the bed. Harvey is standing by with a guilty look on his face. I tell him "no books in the bed. Toys and trucks away!" He obediently scurries back under the covers while I put everything away.
10:30 "Thump". This time he is caught red-handed, standing on a chair reaching out for a book on a high shelf. He sees me as he turns his head around and quickly returns to the covers snuggling up with George and wiggling his but up in the air (so cute!!)
10:50 "Thump" I begin to wonder if he is going to EVER fall asleep?
11:15 Joe tiptoes into the room and comes back out with his thumbs up.
VICTORY!

Harvey Pie

Last night we made our first pumpkin pie of the season. I think this is the first pie that Harvey has helped with. Unfortunately we forgot to add the flour to the filling and it was a little soupy. When we (I) poured the mixture into the shell, H exclaimed "ROCKET SOUP"! FYI Rocket Soup is the name of the Little Einstein video he's been watching lately. I actually approve of it because the music is by Dvorak and they actually show the treble staff and music notation on the tv screen. The notes light up as they are played - it is very cool! Later in the day when Joe and I weren't paying attention, H was left up to his own devices; he created a snowstorm using nearly an entire container of baby powder. When I entered his room to discover a fleet of snow-covered trains, trucks and cars, he pointed to the mess and said, "Snow."
